Johan Huizinga Fellowship
Postgraduate Fellowship for historical research at the Rijksmuseum

The Johan Huizinga Fund/Rijksmuseum Fund offers outstanding postgraduate candidates the opportunity to conduct historical research into objects in in the Rijksmuseum collection. Candidates are invited to submit a research proposal that draws on these objects as subject material and as sources of information. The Johan Huizinga Fellowship is awarded annually for a six-month period. The Rijksmuseum will enable publication of the Fellow’s research in the series Rijksmuseum Studies in History. The Rijksmuseum will provide working space for the Fellows, in order to stimulate an exchange of knowledge, ideas and experience. Access will be provided to all necessary information in the museum, as well as to the library and the resources of the Netherlands Institute for Art History (RKD) in The Hague. Further information.

The Amsterdam School for Heritage, Memory and Material Culture (AHM), one of the six research schools, currently has a vacant PhD position within the Amsterdam Centre for Ancient Studies and Archaeology (ACASA) as part of the NWO-funded VIDI-project Tracing the potter’s wheel: investigating technological trajectories and cultural encounters in the Bronze Age Aegean, led by dr. Jill Hilditch (University of Amsterdam).

Three PhD Positions in Archaeology.

Greek Mycenaean monumental architecture has been well-studied. However, the extent to which large-scale building programmes contributed to the socioeconomic and political changes and crises that took place in Late Bronze Age Greece (c.1600-1100 BC) has not been studied. International PhD Opportunity: Holocene Hunter-Gather Archaeology in Northeast Asia University of Groningen

An exciting opportunity has arisen to undertake a four-year international PhD project in the Holocene hunter-gatherer archaeology of Northeast Asia.
