The Allard Pierson is hosting an event as part of the Week of Classics which combines issues of heritage, migration and Mediterranean studies. On March 18th, Prof Yannis Hamilakis (Brown University) will give a (online) lecture on the themes of his forthcoming book with Prof Raphael Greenburg, Archaeology, Nation and Race: Confronting the Past, Decolonizing the Future in Greece and Israel (Cambridge University Press).
The organizers of the lecture, Laurien de Gelder (Allard Pierson) and Gert Jan van Wijngaarden are seeking (R)MA students from archaeology, heritage, history and political science to take the lead in the Q&A after the talk. The book is being released in February, but Laurien will make sure that those who are interested in participating will be able to get a digital copy ASAP.
The event will be hosted in the Nina van Leerzaal in the Allard Pierson on Friday the 18th of March from 15.30-17.30.
If you want to participate in the Q&A group you are kindly invited to join two brainstorm sessions with Gert Jan van Wijngaarden and Laurien de Gelder to discuss the book and the general specifics of the discussion afterwards with prof Yannis Hamilakis. The brainstorm sessions are planned on:
