In this conference, we will focus on the diversity in mortuary practices from around the world and throughout time. Consequently, we will hear from varied specialists with expertise from different focuses within the field and hope to demonstrate the many ways in which mourning, burial, grief, and mortuary rituals are practiced.
In the morning, we will have lectures from various specialists in mortuary archaeology (25-30 minutes each with 5-10 minutes for questions). The goal is to have an impression of the breadth of mortuary archaeology. Then there will be a lunch break and a poster session where students can present their own work in mortuary archaeology. In the afternoon, there will be breakout discussions with the lecturers (each discussion will be 20 minutes smaller groups).

Credits: ARCHON members can receive 1 ECTS for attending the conference and handing in a standard report. Additionally, students may bring a poster to present for an additional 1 ECTS. Please send your report and/or poster to secretary@archonline.nl within a month after the event.
