Research master students curriculum
In the Netherlands research master students of the Faculty of Humanities are required to become a member of a research school, where they have to enroll in 5 credits of education annually. If you are a research master student in Archaeology or a related field of study at one of the universities in the Netherlands, we gladly welcome you to become a member.
ARCHON offers a minimum of around 15 EC for RMA students and PhD researchers in courses, workshops, skill courses, seminars and conferences on a yearly basis. RMA students are encouraged to come up with their own ideas for workshops, skill courses and seminars. Here the RMA researcher also has the possibility to organize an activity or present their research, see here for more information.
You can register at ARCHON if your supervisor or department agrees with your choice. Please note that you have to apply for membership before September 30th of each year.
Students are required to send in a written report on the workshop they attended in order to receive ECTS. In return the student will receive a certificate which lists subject and credits. The certificate is provided to the student at the end of the academic year and includes all the credits earned during the academic year.
ARCHON Conference Subsidy:
ARCHON encourages students to attend and speak on conferences abroad. Therefore we can annually offer four € 250,- conference subsidies to RMA and PhD.
Travel from and to Groningen:
ARCHON subsidises travel to and from Groningen to the centre of the country in order to facilitate student mobility. In all cases students are expected to use their reduction options from travelling in off-peak hours. If travel in the morning peak is necessary, buy separate tickets for on and off peak hours. Travel is only subsidised for students who send in an evaluation report in order to claim EC.
Please note that travelcosts can be reimbursed for a maximum amount of 40 euro annually.
