Become a Steering Committee member!

We are looking for one RMA student from Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and one RMA student from University of Amsterdam to represent their university in the ARCHON Steering Committee. The Steering Committee supports the Archon Office in developing its educational programme. We meet three times a year to discuss event proposals and other activities. These meetings will take place in October, February and May and last ca. 2 hours.

The main goal of the Archon steering committee is to brainstorm and come up with inspiring and innovative RMA and PhD education as well as inspiring workshops and conferences to be attended by all members. The Steering Committee also reviews event proposals sent by RMA and PhD members as well as staff members of the various universities. Additionally, the steering committee helps Archon think about and set up ways to improve intra-university scientific collaboration and synthesis between academic and non-academic archaeology.

Besides having the opportunity to help determine Archon’s educational program, being part of the steering committee is good for your network and looks great on your resume! If you’re curious who our current Steering Committee members are, have a look here.

To thank the Steering Committee members for their efforts during the year, we organise an annual dinner. During the corona-pandemic the meetings are held online, but we hope to come together in person again soon at our usual location, the RCE in Amersfoort. (Costs to travel to this location are reimbursed by Archon.)

Interested in joining the Steering Committee? Send a short motivation (max. 250 words) to secretary@archonline.nl. If you have any questions, we are happy to get into contact with you and provide you with more information if necessary!
